Dealing with Resistance


The dictionary defines resistance as the act or power of resisting, opposing, or withstanding.

There are some people who are highly resistant to simply letting an issue go. In fact, it seems as though the harder they try to release a feeling or an issue, the more it seems to bother them. It has been estimated that about 10% of the population is seriously resistant to allowing needed change. Unless specific protocols are used, these people seldom benefit from Energy Work.

In most cases ZPoint deals well with resistance without taking specific measures. The regular protocol as set out in my Introduction to ZPoint e-Book will, in most cases, melt this resistance without taking specific measures. For those who may have more subconscious resistance than others, I am including a specific protocol below which will help.

First, understand that resistance is your subconscious minds way of protecting itself. It is not bad or wrong to be resistant, it just means that before you can find relief from what’s bothering you, you must first release the resistance to letting it go.

You do this by allowing yourself to feel that resistance when you think of completely and fully letting that issue go. If you think about letting the feeling go, how does that feel? Does it feel good? Probably not.

So allow yourself to think about what it will feel like to be without the feeling you wish to be free of. Allow yourself to feel that feeling and then imagine placing THAT feeling into the Circle and begin the process. Start by counting down from 10 remembering to repeat your cue word between counts until you reach 0.

A script to release this resistance follows:

The purpose of this script is to help you release any resistance you may have to fully letting go of the uncomfortable feelings that bother and upset you.

I’d like you to think about something in your life right now, that you would prefer not be there.

This could be something that you don’t want to happen. It could be a memory you wish you didn’t have or it could be something you don’t want to acknowledge to yourself or anyone else.

It could also be just a feeling you would prefer not to feel. Whatever it is, let yourself feel that ‘pushing away’ feeling that comes as you think about whatever it is that you don’t want to happen.

Imagine NOT wanting to feel stressed. What would that feel like? NOT wanting to feel that stress or NOT wanting to experience an unpleasant outcome. It’s that feeling of resisting that feeling or that outcome. That is our characteristic feeling.

So, I’d like you to imagine placing that feeling along with the memory of every experience we’ve ever had that evokes that feeling, and placing it in the Clearing Circle to be released as we count down from 10 to 0. And please, remember to repeat your cue word as I count you down.

And we’ll begin with…

Now, take a deep breath and pay attention to that feeling of resistance. Think of something that you don’t want to have in your life and pay attention to that feeling that is evoked as you think of that. It’s that resistance that we seek to release as we go through the process.

So put your attention on that feeling and imagine we’re taking that feeling whole and complete and placing it within the releasing circle and again, will count down from 10 to 0 and remember to repeat our cue word as we count down. And we’ll start with…

… and thinking about all the ways I resist experiences and feelings in my life, I feel…

Now, just take a deep breath and relax.

Now, check in and feel for that characteristic feeling again. If you don’t feel completely and I mean completely peaceful, do the process again, placing the remainder of that feeling into the Circle and completing the process.

The idea here is to take that feeling of resistance through the process until it is completely gone. Feeling even a little bit of it is not good enough. As long as the smallest amount of it remains, you won’t see the results you want.

Each of my programs such as my Eliminating Fear Program includes a special recording that uses this script to eliminate the resistance you have to the program working as it should. All you need to do is listen and remember to repeat your cue word as you do so. You can think of this as pre-paving your way to success.

  2. I saw this today and went aha wow as I had been listening to my daughter having this problem of letting go and nothing working so I have sent this to her thankyou .
    Here is something I have created and shared with many that I use in my work very wonderfully as a healing practitioner.

    I have been using Z point with lots of success for a couple of years now and I love it . I first learnt EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) then secondly BSFF -Be Set Free Fast , (these are all under the Thought Field Therapy -TFT umbrella) . At first I resisted going to a third method but eventually this dissolved and I added Z point to my tool kit . http://www.zpointprocess.com

    I have now been learning and doing the wonderful updated Ho’oponopono method over the last year or so and one day I realised how I could use this method together with the Erase the Tape method from Zpoint and it works very effectivley when I use it, maybe it was my own divine inspiration . Zpoint process by Grant Connoly has a similar goal of getting to zero-clear infinite void , the circle empty of all programs beliefs etc they call it cleaning in Ho’oponopono.

    1.Draw a circle either physically or in your minds eye and put the issue you have in there , (or even circle your finger on paper or in the air).

    2. Say “10- 0 “silently or out loud , then “I am sorry, Please forgive me , I love you , thankyou ” over and over til its feels clear , taking you to zero limits!!!! Clearing & cleaning everything in the circle just like with the Erase the Tape method . 10 to 0 means going from a 10 stress level of your issue to 0 , clear infinite void ,memories zero, dissolved with love.

    3. Look at the circle to see to see if there is more to be cleaned to zero , if you sense more or another connected issue keep going with steps 1 & 2 until you know there is nothing left coming up in there or what is in the circle is positive and loving and what you have arrived at within yourself , as you are home in truth.

    4. Trust and allow God/Divinity to do the cleaning of these memories replaying within the subconscious mind and that God knows what memories need cleaning for you and this will occur in the best way and time .

    It is very handy to use a magnetic flexible whiteboard or any type of whiteboard you have as it saves paper and you can then erase each circles feeling thoughts beliefs etc. You can use paper if you wish and keep doing new circles of your layers until clear.

  3. Ok. I’ll type my post again.

    This is a timely post about resistance.

    Anyway, II enjoyed you, Grant, on a tele-seminar last week with Debra Thompson. The demo of the zpoint process was good. I think zpoint works well when someone guides me through it instead of me trying it alone. I wished the demo could have gone on longer. I was starting to get rally relaxed. I knew I was release something because I was constantly yawning. :)

  4. Not a comment but a question.
    Many phrases in the protocol begin or end with … (3 points). Is that intended for saying the cue-word?
    If not than I ask you an full example of an (hypothetical) case.
    It’s for foreigners to understand better.

      Yes, some phrases in the protocol end with… An example would be “I clear all the ways I feel this feeling because…” We leave the ending blank to allow the subconscious to fill in the blank ending for us. We then repeat our cue word over and over to allow the subconscious to find and release whatever “becauses” it may find there. For example, I feel that feeling because of this reason and because of that reason. We don’t need to fill in those reasons or even know what they are consciously. Your subconscious knows what those reasons are and releases them automatically. See?

    i am using zpoint impulsively almost every day! i do it when i swim, as the water seems to calm me and my mind is relaxed! unpleasant feeling or character stuff or wrong beliefs come to my conscious mind! i zoint it out asap and i use a mixture of “clear it all the way” may own statements and the original protocol. i love to follow up with the “eft choice statement” as i love to fill my empty spaces with good stuff and not just leave it blank. there are also days when i do nothing but circles! i put ALL my feelings, fears and dislikes in the circle, clear it out and work with the original protocol!
    it has become an almost daily habit in my life and the circles work best if i have to clear out my heart from a whole bunch of accumulated junk!

  7. I am a natural healer and practitioner of Theta Healing as well as EFT. Having had many successes with EFT, I couldn’t see how Z-Point could improve upon its use as an energy psychology medium that achieves quantifiable results. However, having tried Z-Point casually once with little noticeable outcomes, I came back to it recently and decided to give it my fullest attention. The result has been extraordinary. It now holds a valuable place in my therapeutic tool-kit. It is highly adaptable and I have used it creatively a few ways to boost its effectiveness. For example, when clients seem ‘stuck’ and that last 3(out of 10) doesn’t want to shift, I ask them to step into the healing circle and examine which of the emotions/feelings appears to be the most powerful. I then ask them to concentrate on this feeling/emotion (knowing the other lesser emotions/feelings are also present) and we go through another round of Z-Point. This works a treat in finally getting stubborn issues down to zero. I combine Z-Point with hands-on healing and find that (unlike EFT) because it frees up my hands I can make the session even more powerful. It’s also great for scooping up all the ‘invisible’ stuff contributing to the issue (‘Make it your intention to include in the healing circle any emotions or feelings that you might not even be aware of right now.’). Z-Point is a deceptively simple technique and it really WORKS! This case study is taken from my website. The first session I used hands-on healing and EFT; the second session I used Z-Point and some hands-on healing:
    June sprained her ankle and was off work. You could argue that accidents are merely accidents. However, our subconscious is always communicating to us, and this is usually translated through ‘events’ happening to the physical body. During the healing session the pain eased substantially, but the next day June phoned to say that it had returned and was little better. During our second session it became apparent that the pain had reappeared when June returned to a particular social situation in her life. We worked on this through healing and energy psychology (Z-Point) and she went away saying that her foot felt ‘better’ – though not entirely healed. The next day she sent this text: “Just moved from my desk and felt as if something cleared in my foot. Got up to walk and like magic 96% [of the pain] just disappeared. I can put my foot down without that sharp pain. Am walking with a spring in my step!”
